Sedentary lifestyle and cancer

 


Sedentry lifestyle is associated with obesity, diabetes, and certain heart diseases. But the surprising fact is it is also responsible for increase in certain type of cancers. Colon cancer is one type of cancer that increasingly is reported to occur with increase in sedentary lifestyle. What does sedentary lifestyle has to do with colon cacner?

A physically active lifestyle means incorporating moderate walking for atleast 45-60 minutes a day. When a minimal physical exercise like walking is incorporated, it gives movement to the colon and the digestive system as a whole. This movement greatly helps in churning the GI tract. This churning is said to be good for a balanced activity of the digestive system. It can help in actively digesting the consumed food and more importantly help relieve constipation and help in bowel movements. In short, activity to the colon can keep the gut clean. It may be recalled that an unhleathy gut is responsible for most of the diseases of the GI tract and colon cancer is also one of them. So include physical activity in your daily regimen, bid good bye to sedentary lifestyle and decrease the chances of getting colon cancer greatly.
